Register for a guided Walk in the Woods at Beals Preserve

The community is invited to take part in guided hikes at Beals Preserve this weekend.

The event is a partnership between Southborough Trails Committee and the Southborough Open Land Foundation:

Photo of Beals Preserve from event websiteWe invite you to explore Beals Preserve through the eyes of a local artist, storyteller and “curious naturalist,” Deborah Costine, who will lead a stroll through the forest. She will encourage us to slow our pace to the rhythm of the trees and notice the many delightful natural sights along the trail. Lichen, fungi, ferns, types of trees and woodland flowers as well as holes in trees are just a few of the many nature sightings that are possible.

Weather permitting, we will meander over hardpacked, dirt trails throughout the forest of this 60-acre property. This will be an easy hike suitable for all ages.

Although the hikes are on Saturday, June 5th, the project was planned in May to support of Mental Health Awareness Month:

Physical activity is known to reduce stress, anxiety and enhance mental well-being. Make exercise a fun part of your daily routine!

Participation in the hikes is free, but pre-registration through their event website is required (and attendance is capped). The walks will begin at 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, each lasting 1 to 1½ hours.
