Post-Season Update: Boys Rugby in State Finals; Baseball in District Semi-Finals (Updated – again)

It’s time for another update on what’s happening in ARHS post-season sports.

Yesterday, Boys Rugby bested Hanover 27-14 in the MIAA State Division 2 bracket semis.

MIAA’s Phil Napolitano tweeted a photo of the “battle”:

ARHS earned its place in the state Finals, but their competition is still battling it out. The undefeated ARHS Boys will likely face also-undefeated Cambridge Rindge & Latin. (Unless Hingham manages to break that streak tonight.)

[Update: CRL beat Hingham 47-14. The two undefeated teams will face off on June 30th, in Cambridge at 7:30 pm.]

Baseball beat upper seed Groton-Dunstable 14-3 in the Quarter Finals of the Central/West Division 1 tourney. They’ll play Leominster this afternoon at 4:00 pm. ARHS goes into their semis as underdogs. They lost to the top seed team twice this spring. Their current record is 6-10-0 vs Leominster’s 15-1-0.

Three more ARHS teams fell out of the tourneys on Wednesday:

  • Boys Volleyball lost to Lincoln-Sudbury 3-0 in the MIAA Central Semi-Finals.
  • Boys Tennis made it to the Central Division 1 Finals. There, they were defeated for a third time by the only team to best them this spring, top seed Westborough. (You can read about that in Wicked Local. And the Telegram posted the players and scores from the competition.)

It’s too soon to report on the overall results for the MIAA All States Track and Field where Girls Outdoor Track and two members of Boys Outdoor Track are competing. The tournament started today, but runs through Saturday. (You can find details here.)

Updated (6/25/21 7:39 am): I inserted an update on Rugby.

Updated (6/30/21 9:41 am): Tonight’s Rugby match is now scheduled for 7:30 pm. To see if it gets postponed later due to the weather, you can check MIAA’s schedule here. You can also look for updates by ARHS Rugby on twitter here.
