The town of Southborough is hiring

Everyone says government jobs are cushy. I’m not sure if that’s actually true, but here’s your chance to find out. The town is currently looking to fill the following positions:

  • Facilities Manager (job description): Technical and supervisory work in the maintenance and repair of 10 town buildings (excluding school properties). Open until filled.
  • Library Director* (job description): Oversee all phases of library operations, including purchasing of materials, facility management, programming, staff supervision, long-range planning, maintenance oversight, and budgeting. Application deadline 11/15/08.
  • Library Page: Staffing the circulation desk, shelving books, assisting library patrons, and other organizational tasks as needed. Approx 9 hours/week. Application deadline 10/31/08
  • Water Department staffer: Water sampling, water meter reading installation and replacement, construction, repair and maintenance of water mains and services, hydrant installation, repair and maintenance, water easement maintenance and pumping station operation and maintenance. Application deadline 10/10/08.

(*Wondering what’s happening to current Library Director Kim Ivers? Not to worry. The job posting says she “has chosen to return to her first love as children’s librarian,” so looks like she’ll still be around.)
