Tonight it’s the boys’ turn

As posted earlier, the Algonquin girls soccer team is on its way to the Division I championships thanks to a win over Shrewsbury last night. Tonight the boys soccer team gets its chance in a semifinal match against Marlborough.

In my days at Algonquin (way back when), the soccer rivalry with Marlborough was huge, and the night game against Marlborough was always the biggest match of the season. The bleachers would be full, the crowd fired up, and the action on the field always aggressive, always exciting. I have no idea if the rivalry is still that intense, but I can bet tonight’s game will be dramatic no matter what.

The teams will battle it out at Hudson High starting at 7:00 pm.
