Music director Dennis Wrenn left an indelible mark on the lives of countless music students who pass through Algonquin during his 28 years there — myself included. Last night with friends and supporters in attendance, a set of benches and a memorial plaque were dedicated in his honor in the foyer of the Algonquin auditorium.

“I think this is a very fitting tribute to my father,” Nichols said. I know he would feel very honored. My dad dedicated countless hours to this school, the music program, the community and to keeping the music alive. It’s nice to see that a little piece of him is still here.”

Charles Gobron, the Northborough-Southborough Superintendent of Schools, spoke eloquently about Dennis Wrenn’s passion of music.
Nichols also thanked the Northborough-Southborough Music Association (NSMA), the 2010 Student Council, and the parents of the Northborough-Southborough schools for their support and generosity for helping to raise the money needed to purchase the plaque and the benches. Nichols said one more piece of the tribute to her father was to be presented Thursday night but didn’t arrive in time.

“The actual corner pieces from my dad’s casket, music scrolls in G-clef, will go on the benches and serve as the side pieces,” Nichols said.
