TONIGHT: New parent education series at Fay School focuses on reading

Here’s another event for parents happening tonight. Fay School is offering a new parent education series that’s open to all Southborough residents. Tonight’s talk, the second in the series, focuses on learning to read. The series concludes with another session next month. Here are the details.

We’re delighted to announce a new parent education series at Fay, open to our current families as well as members of the local community. This winter, we are hosting three parent workshops on literacy for young learners.

These informal evenings, designed for parents of children in Pre-Kindergarten through grade five, will focus on how children become effective readers. Our panelists will talk about the sequence of the reading process and provide strategies and hands-on activities for parents to use with their children at home.

Tuesday, February 8, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
“Breaking the Code: Learning to Read”

Wednesday, March 9, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
“Moving into Meaning: Reading to Learn”

Just wanted to say that I am so glad this event information was posted here. I attended the program last night and learned a great deal in a short time, and came home with some wonderful tools and ideas to help my child’s reading efforts. I’m looking forward to the 3rd segment of this program next month! Many thanks to the four presenters for a well-organized and valuable program.
