Photos: Singing telegrams at Trottier

Fuzzy slippers. Zebra print tights. Girls in suspenders. Boys in pink pajama pants. It was all part of the act at Trottier last week.

Friday at Trottier was Singing Telegram Day, a day when groups of students dressed up and delivered musical messages to their peers. Trottier Principal Keith Lavoie said it’s a popular event with students. “I had to turn away groups because there were so many who wanted to participate,” Lavoie said.

The event is anything by ad hoc. Student singing groups had to audition and then participate in rehearsals. Telegram delivery was carefully scheduled throughout the day. Lavoie said 18 groups of students delivered 300 singing telegrams. Some of the telegrams were even delivered to neighboring Neary School.

The event, sponsored by the Trottier Student Council, was a fundraiser for St. Jude’s Hospital.
