Postseason update: Algonquin girls basketball is headed to the district finals

The Algonquin girls basketball team is just one game away from its first ever Central District 1 championship title. The girls beat Leominster in the semi-finals last night at Clark University by a score of 51-41 to advance to the final match.

Third seed Algonquin will face top-seed Shrewsbury in the district finals on Saturday. Algonquin faced Shrewsbury twice in the regular season with a split record, winning their first meeting by a score of 42-31 and losing their second 45-33.

The championship game starts at 7:00 pm at Fitchburg State.
