Volunteers needed for annual town clean-up event: Saturday, April 30

Tired of looking at those discarded fast food bags, soda bottles, and assorted roadside trash as you drive home every day? Why not volunteer to help clean them up during the 21st Annual Town Clean Up event on Saturday, April 30.

Last year 52 groups of volunteers collected 550 bags full of trash – an estimated 30 cubic yards of litter – from town roadsides. Wow.

This year’s clean up takes place on Saturday, April 30, from 8:30 to 11:30 am (rain date Sunday, May 1) starting at the Department of Public Works building by the Transfer Station.

You can sign up in advance and adopt your favorite part of town by calling the DPW at 508-485-1210, or show up the morning of the event and pick a section of town. Trash bags will be provided, but you should bring work gloves.

Volunteers will get coffee and pastries the morning of the event. T-shirts will also be distributed on a first-come basis. After the clean-up, volunteers can stop by the gazebo on Main Street for pizza, soda, and ice cream.

The event is sponsored by The Rotary Club of Southborough, The Department of Public Works, Southborough Open Land Foundation, NSTAR, Polar Beverages, Domino’s Pizza of Southborough, Red Barn Coffee Roasters, Theracopia Massage Therapy and Wellness Center, Mauro’s Market, and Al Cass, Inc.
