School invitations: Technology survey and Support Services search committee

Two announcements have been issued by the school district worth sharing. One is asking for community feedback. The other is looking for volunteers for a search committee.

Family & Community Technology Survey

The schools’ Technology Study Group held parent forums in the fall. Unfortunately, they fell on some busy dates around the holidays. So, they didn’t get the community feedback they were hoping for.

Now they are reaching out online to get our thoughts.

Today, Neary School’s Facebook page posted this message to the district community:

Dear Northborough and Southborough Community Members and Families:

The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough are in the process of updating the Districts’ Technology Plan. To accomplish this, the District formed a Technology Study Group (DTSG).

The DTSG has been hard at work, reviewing the current District Technology Plan, reevaluating technology goals, and researching best practices around teaching and learning with technology.

We invite you to participate in this process by completing a brief survey, which has been developed by the DTSG. Your collaboration and the information you share is greatly appreciated.

The survey closes on Monday, February 16. So if you want to weigh in on the schools’ use of technology, act soon.

Search Committtee for Director of Student Support Services

The district Director of Student Support Services is retiring. This means, the school needs to find her replacement.

The post is categorized as a Special Education Director. The Director is responsible for providing “the leadership required to ensure creative and appropriate services for all students.”

In forming a search committee, the schools are seeking a parent from Southborough. They also need a Southborough member of NSPAC (Northborough/Southborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council).

Members of this committee must be able to attend all meetings. Those are scheduled for February 23, February 26 and March 2, 2015 from  3:30 – 6:00 pm, and March 5-6 from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Interested volunteers need to apply by February 11. (Selected applicants will hear back by February 13.)

For details, read Wednesday’s letter from Superintendent Christine Johnson.
