Three of the four Titans teams that entered the MIAA state tourneys this week are still in it. Girls Basketball will compete again tonight, and both Hockey teams will soon compete in the Sweet 16.

Here’s my update on those tourneys and other Algonquin postseason competitions.

ARHS Boys Basketball fell out in the Preliminary Round, losing 42-51 to Methuen. (You can read the Eagle-Tribune’s detailed coverage of the hard-fought loss here.)

Girls Basketball beat lower seed Lynn in their prelim, 58-51 on their home court. (You can read the Telegram’s quick recap here.)

Tonight, March 2nd, the 29th seed team will head to Wachusett to challenge their 4th seed foes. (With two losses to the Mountaineers earlier this season, the Titans will be the underdogs.) That Round of 32 game is at 6:00 pm. Wachusetts tweeted that Tickets are $7 adults, $5 students/seniors.

Last night, both ARHS Ice Hockey teams won their Round of 32 games.

The 5th seed Girls co-op team beat 28th seed Natick 2-1 in overtime. The Telegram covered the team’s challenge getting past Natick’s “insane” goalie who made 33 saves and how they overcame. (You can watch the winning goal here.)

On Monday, March 6th the girls will play 12th seed Dedham 6:00 pm at the New England Sports Center. (Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Look for the sales to be posted here.)

7th seed Boys Hockey shut out #28 Newton South on Wednesday, 4-0. (You can read the Telegram’s quick recap here.) Their next game is scheduled for Saturday, March 4th, 7:30 pm at North Star Arena. They’ll find out tonight whether that will be against Wakefield Memorial (#10) or Plymouth North (#23). (You can look for an updated bracket here tomorrow. No info posted on tickets yet. You can check for online sales closer to the game here.)

Pentathalon photo tweeted by @ARHSAthleticsAt the MSTCA Pentathlon, the Boys Indoor Track team performed well. ARHS Athletics tweeted, “Miles Lipka came in 5th place and the team of Miles Lipka, Gavin Moran, and Mason Drew came in 3rd overall!!!”

As I wrote earlier this week, this Sunday, Cheerleading will compete in the Central/West Regional Championships, 10:00 am at Shepherd Hill. (Click here for tickets.) The order of appearance has been posted, and the Titans will be the 5th team to cheer.

Results from yesterday’s State Alpine Ski Tournament have yet to be posted. Stay tuned for those details.
