The Worcester Red Sox is challenging Southborough residents to dominate the stands at their friendly “Town Takeover” competition this week.

This time, the promotion focuses more on town pride than home town rivalries to gin up excitement for attending the game.

On Wednesday, May 21st at 6:05 pm, the WooSox will host “The Battle of the Boroughs” for Southborough, Marlborough, and Westborough. Anyone who purchases tickets through their town’s event will have a portion of proceeds donated to a charity selected for that Town.

For our town, the funds will support the Southborough Scholarship Fund. Click here to buy the tickets, with prices ranging from $27.60-$36.36.

Each ticket will also be loaded with $5 credit to be used on concessions and merchandise. (The site also promotes “Exclusive Fan Experience Packages are up for grabs” if you reach out.)

One of the special experiences for Southborough, which is sure to drum up attendance by some families, is that the Trottier Middle School’s 7th & 8th grade bands will perform at the event.

The team is again hosting numerous Town Takeover events this year. At the end of the season, the town with the largest turnout for its date will be rewarded with a trophy and special recognition.

The Wednesday night home game at Polar Park will pit the Worcester Red Sox against the Durham Bulls. For more details on the event, click here.

For anyone on the fence about going in overcast weather tomorrow, I’ll add that WooSox games are a lot of fun. I remember playing in the Trottier band back when the team was in Pawtucket, Rhode Island – Polar Park is a lot easier to get to. I highly recommend getting a Coney Island hot dog!
