Southborough is one of the towns that will field a Women’s Softball team through the program coordinated through Northborough Recreation.
The opportunity is open for adults 18 and older. According to the website, “This league is not extremely competitive, but you must have some playing experience”.
The program is for Northborough, Southborough, Westbrough, Hudson, and Grafton. (Players who are from a town that doesn’t have a team are also able to join one of the teams.)
Registration is currently open, but it could fill up since teams are organized as 13 players (10 on the field). The registration instructions that players should register individually. (Registration costs $120 per player). Once signed up:
please email me a list of women you would like to play on your team, and I will put the teams together. This is a first-come, first-served registration.
(The page doesn’t specify who “me” is. But the email contact on the Northborough Rec website is alane@town.northborough.ma.us.)
The season will run July 8th – August 12th (with August 19th as a potential makeup game day if needed). Each team will play once per week (Tuesdays at 4:30 or 6:00 pm) at Melican Middle School in Northborough.
Players will be responsible for bringing their own gloves. The league will provide game balls, an umpire, team t-shirts, at least one team bat, and a face mask to be worn by the pitcher (not required). Batting helmets are not required for the “Slow Pitch” league (and it sounds like they won’t be provided).
Additional gameplay rules will be provided prior to the start of the season.
