Verizon Fios down for a chunk of town (Updated)

Library wifi is working and accessible

Updated (6/12/25 1:46 pm): Due to tech issues related to the outage, I won’t be posting the weekly real estate listings until tomorrow.

Updated (6/12/25 12:08 pm): If you need need wifi access, you can head to the Southborough Library. I confirmed it is working, and patrons have been successfully connecting to it.

Their phones aren’t. For some reason, people who are calling are getting connected to the Town House and the library can’t make outgoing calls. But their other systems are. So you can check out books as well. (Unfortunately, all of their circulating mobile hotspots were already checked out.)

The library is open until 9:00 pm tonight. (Hopefully, there will be no need for it tomorrow, but it reopens 10:00 am on Friday.)

Around 10:00 am, wifi went down at my home. I quickly learned it was across a big region of Southborough. And based on Facebook comments, everyone impacted is a Verizon Fios customer.

The SPD confirmed that a tower was out but they didn’t know why. A resident posted on Facebook that Verizon told him that a wire had been cut.

Some customers have reported they were given a repair by time of 2:30 am. (I’m hoping that is an overly cautious estimate!)

Fortunately, my husband had a hotspot device I was able to borrow!
