Letter: Al Hamilton on decision to not seek re-election

[Ed note: My Southborough accepts signed letters to the editor submitted by Southborough residents. Letters may be emailed to mysouthborough@gmail.com.

The following letter is from Al Hamilton, a member of the Select Board.]

To The Editor:

Over the past 25+ years I have been a fixture, for better and worse, in our municipal government. In a few months I will turn 74 and, as I age, I wish to focus my efforts on matters that, I believe, will most benefit my community and give me the greatest satisfaction. That includes focusing my work at the Pine Hill Meadow Garden and building houses with Habitat for Humanity. Something has to give and that is my participation on the Select Board. Consequently, I will not be seeking re-election to the board.

Al Hamilton
35 Pine Hill Road

I thought you wrote “fixer” rather than “fixture.” We need a fixer fixture.

I want to thank Al Hamilton for all his years of service to the Town. I’ve always found him to be a pleasure to work with. He has been an energetic, thoughtful, humane and persistent force for the community’s benefit.
