  • Live Music with Dave Parker (8:00 – 11:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: The singer/musician will entertain with rock trivia, covers from a variety of popular bands, and perform a few of his own songs. For details, click here.

Saturday, August 23, 2025

  • Southborough Summer Nights (5:00 – 8:00pm) @ Neary campus, 53 Parkerville Road: One of the town’s biggest annual events, a festival to cap off the summer, ending with fireworks at dusk. No admission to attend. Festivities includes a ton of FREE kids activities. There is also live music and a slew of food vendors. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Live Music with 3 of a Kind (8:00 – 11:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: The band will perform classic rock. For details, click here.

Monday, August 25, 2025

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point. For details, see related post.
  • ARHS Incoming Music Families Meeting (7:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School: For students and parents new to the school’s music program to get key info and ask questions.

Tuesday, August 26, 2025

  • ARHS Orientation (9:00 – 11:00am) @ Algonquin Regional High School: The school will hold separate orientation activities for incoming freshmen and new upper classmen students.
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Finn School Open House (4:00 – 6:00pm) @ Finn School: Open House for Finn students and parents
  • ARHS Freshman Dance/Parent Meeting (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School: While parents of incoming freshmen meet in the auditorium to hear from the school and ask questions, their kids can enjoy a free dance in the cafeteria.
  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)
  • Shelf Help Discussion Group (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: A community book discussion group run by SYFS with the Southborough Library. This month’s focus is Breaking Free of Child Anxiety & OCD: A Scientifically Proven Program for Parents by Dr. Eli R. Lebowitz. Members should have pre-registered to participate (but pre-reading isn’t required). For details, see dedicated post.
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Assabet Orientation @ Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School: Day 1 of two day orientation for incoming AVRTHS students.

  • WW School Open House (4:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Woodward School: Open House for Woodward students and parents.
  • ARHS Fall Sports Night (5:30 – 6:30 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School: Athletics Dept presentation and meetings with coaches for parents (and students) of students participating in Algonquin fall sports.
  • Live Blues Jam n’ Open Mic (8:00 – 11:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Come play or sing with the house band and fellow musical talent, or just enjoy the show. For details, click here.

  • First Day of School for all NSBORO Public School Students
  • Assabet Orientation @ Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School: Day 2 of two day orientation for incoming AVRTHS students.
  • Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly program would love new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or talk to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Virtual Author Talk (2:00 – 3:00 pm) @ online: Registration is required to take part in the free live talk with Q&A, “How to Thrive in a World of Constant Chaos with Organizational Psychologist Dr. Tasha Eurich”.  This is part of the Southborough Library’s virtual series featuring bestselling, award-winning, and highly acclaimed authors from around the world.   • Sit & Knit (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Semi-monthly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
  • Karaoke (9:00 – 11:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Come and be the star. DJ and Karaoke at Owens every Thursday.

  • Dull Men’s Club (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Casual social club for senior men. New members are always welcome to drop in. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Kids Jam (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Newborns through preschoolers are invited to dance and sing. No registration necessary. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. For details, see related post.
  • Canasta (11:15 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group playing “Hand & Foot”. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Southborough Safe Spaces – Youth Meeting (7:00 – 9:00 pm) @ St Mark’s Episcopal Church parish hall, 27 Main St: Event for grades 6-12 hosted by Southborough Safe Spaces for LBGTQ+ youth of all faiths and their allies. Tonight, they’ll make “Back to School Collages”. For details, click here.
