If you’ve had your hands full with a bored 1st – 5th grader home from school today, you may want to take advantage of a program Southborough Recreation is holding later this month.
The next time that Northborough-Southborough Schools has a weekday off on a non-federal holiday is Wednesday, October 22nd (Diwali).1 That morning, Rec is offering a cooking class to keep kids occupied.
The class led by Kids’ Test Kitchen will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Rec’s facilities at 21 Highland Street (the South Union Building). The class is for kids in grades 1-5, with a fee of $90 per child.
In the class, kids will learn how to make Tomato Tortellini Soup and Stovetop Apple Crumble. The program will also incorporate other physical and mental activities to break up the morning.
Earlier this year, Rec partnered with KTK for a cooking program over February break. Below are a few pics that they posted on Facebook of kids enjoying the cooking fun:

Kids’ Test Kitchen is on a mission to get young eaters cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients!
In this one-day cooking class, your eaters, working together, will prepare entrées, fun snacks, and side items whose key ingredients are known to be really good! During this time, we’ll focus on learning practical cooking skills while finding fun ways to enjoy the produce of the season! . .
We will use every second of our time together! Along with cooking and tasting, which will be the emphasis, we’ll also take short breaks to burn up some calories and flex our brain muscles – digging a bit deeper into the world of nutrition with fun activities.
Even the most reluctant eaters enjoy KTK, where participation is expected, but tasting is always optional. We know allergies and can work around them, making sure that everyone is having fun and staying safe.
