Back in 2021, Northborough-Southborough Public Schools district launched a long term Strategic Plan for the schools — “Vision 2026”. As they head into the second half of the ’25-’26 school year, it’s time for them to come up with a new forward looking plan.
The NSBORO administration is publicly launching the planning process for the next Vision. That starts with collecting community feedback. This week, the administration issued a survey and announced upcoming public planning sessions.
In 2012, the administration launched a strategic planning process that ended with the 2013 adoption of “Vision 2020”. Seven years later, the administration sought participation in their effort to update that for Vision 2026. (If they follow that pattern, I’d expect the next Vision to cover through 2033.)
Public Survey
A message from the administration explains that to provide helpful feedback, survey participants should first review the current vision:
This fall and winter, the District is collecting input from students, families, staff, and community members through multiple avenues, including a community-wide survey. The survey mirrors the version administered in January 2021, allowing for a comparison of new feedback with the original baseline data. These insights will inform the goals, priorities, and key actions that will define the next phase of the District’s Strategic Plan. . .
Before completing the survey, we encourage all residents to review the current Strategic Plan – Vision 2026: Educate, Inspire, and Challenge .
Worth noting, the survey allows community members who don’t have much knowledge of the schools to skip a section that asks details they’d be unfamiliar with.
And the survey includes some open ended questions allowing participants to share their thoughts on needed improvements.
You can take the survey here.
Interactive Planning Sessions
The district also posted:
A key step in our strategic planning process is envisioning a bold, ambitious future for our students. Together, we share a deep commitment to preparing students to become lifelong learners and positive contributors to society. We hope you’ll join us for a collaborative conversation as we shape our collective vision for student success.
Each session will begin by exploring the world our students are entering: What will future jobs, higher education, and society require of them?
From there, we will work together to identify the habits of learning, work, and well-being that will support our graduates. We’ll also consider the skills and knowledge students need to thrive in a complex, rapidly changing world.
Come connect with other community members, share your aspirations for our children, and help us complete this sentence: We won’t stop until…
The announcement makes clear that participants should only plan to attend one of the following sessions:
- Monday, January 12th (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ ARHS Library, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough
- Tuesday, January 20th (4:00 – 5:30pm) @ Trottier Middle School Library, 49 Parkerville Rd
- Wednesday, January 28th (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ Virtual
For the virtual session, no details are yet posted for registration. But I assume those will be made available closer to the event, so stay tuned.
