The Southborough Police shared photos from the first Friday night “Winter Hoops” program for 5th to 8th graders. (The first session of the age-split program was with 5th – 6th graders.)
Southborough Recreation and the Southborough Police Department are offering three more free opportunities for “an evening of basketball, fun, and community connection”.
Advance registration is required. The original announcements posted on Facebook promoted:
This is a great opportunity to learn more about your community’s police department, make new connections, and get in some extra reps on the court.
The co-ed events are split by grades 5–6 and 7–8, with two nights for each group. The event page invites players to sign up for one or both.
Prior to shooting hoops, the kids will meet with “police officers and command staff for a brief Q&A session” at the Public Safety Building. Afterwards, they’ll walk over to Woodward School’s gym for open play and “friendly pickup games”.
Below are photos the SPD shared on Facebook from the January 9th event:
The Winter Hoops program will be offered again 7:00 – 9:00 pm on the following Fridays:
Grades 5–6: January 23
Grades 7–8: January 16 & January 30
