It was cold out side but the competition was on fire inside Trottier Gym in Southboro on Monday night. 50 kids between the ages of 9-14 competed in the annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Challenge. Each competitor took 15 shots from behind the line with the most in winning. And for several categories, the battle was hot.

Each year, the Knights offer this free competition which is the first of a series of battles leading to an International Champion. “This was the Council (local) competition,” said Grand Knight Tom Gittins. “In a few weeks, these winners will advance to the District, Regional, and State competitions. Totals from each of these competitions will be compared to scores from around the globe to determine an International Champion in each age/gender category. And we’ve had a number of Southboro Champions win the State of Massachusetts in the past. Hopefully, we will see one of these competitors sit on Top of the World this year.”
Thanks to the Southboro Recreation Department, Trottier School personnel, and the Southboro Youth Basketball Association for all their support.
