The Northborough-Southborough Schools made the decision this evening. There will again be no public school in Southborough (and Northborough) tomorrow.
That means the Senior Center and any other program that mimics the school’s policy is also closed.
For those of you keeping track – this is the 4th snow day this school year, pushing the last day of school to Thursday, June 25th.
The snow is expected to end within a few hours.
The cancellation decision may be based on the gusting winds blowing around the snow that has already fallen. But, based on what happened last month, I’m guessing this has more to do with giving public works departments more time to better tackle narrowing snowbanks. (That includes making it safer for kids to walk to school and to bus stops.)
This storm added to what were already large snowbanks in town. But, hopefully, the DPW is hopefully better equipped than they were at the time of the late January storm. Earlier this month, the DPW posted about a new piece of equipment that should make some of the work more manageable:
