The Southborough Library is promoting the next session of a series for “readers in training”. The program partner kids with teen “Buddies” for six weeks, to encourage reading. The program is now available for kids as young as 3 years old.
This event is in addition to the occasional “Read to a Dog” opportunities the Library hosts. But those opportunities are limited to kids with some level of reading skills. (And even for those kids, while the trained dogs are attentive, they don’t really understand what kids are reading to them. And they can’t help when kids are stumbling over words they don’t know.)
The program with human buddies will meet weekly on Monday afternoons from 3:30 – 4:30 pm in the Children’s Room from from April 6th to May 18th. Parents/guardians are required to stay in the library for the program.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to email Marianna at msorensen@southboroughma.com.
(Anyone in grades 6-12 who is interested in becoming an older reading buddy can reach out to Marianna about the possibility.)
