The Friends of the Library are hosting an open house to encourage community connection!

The community is invited to a open house at the Southborough Library, the afternoon of Saturday, September 26th.

Whether you’re looking to make more friendly connections, or to support efforts to foster a sense of community in town — join us!

Good Neighbor Day flyer 2The open house is hosted by The Friends of the Southborough Library.1 It will be a friendly social setting with free refreshments where the public can hang out and chat.

We’ll also put out some games people can play, and the community jigsaw puzzle will be available. Or you can just plan to read a book in a social setting! (Bring your own or check a new one out!)

The event is the Friends’ answer to Southborough Youth & Family Services’ call for people/groups to put on “Good Neighbor Day” events for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month during September.

The Massachusetts Coalition to Build Community & End Loneliness has been promoting it’s 2nd annual initiative:

Loneliness, isolation, and disconnection are a public health crisis affecting both individuals and our society. Let’s come together to make a difference! Join us on MA Good Neighbor Day to meet new friends, greet our neighbors, and strengthen the social bonds within our community.

If you’re interested in supporting the initiative, you can read more about that here.

  1. Full disclosure: I’m the President of The Friends of the Southborough Library.
