More than 700 sign petition to save the Swap Shop

There aren’t many topics that wholly unite the minds and opinions of Southborough residents, but the Swap Shop appears to be one of them. Yesterday morning a petition to save the Swap Shop was submitted to the Town Clerk’s office. The petition bore the names of more than 700 Southborough residents. No doubt you’ve seen the commercials for Shop Small Saturday. It’s a movement that encourages holiday shoppers to “shop small” by visiting local stores and businesses on Saturday, November 26. MWDN: Southborough eliminates town engineer position

Southborough Town Engineer John Woodsmall recently accepted a position as the public works director in Holden (congrats, John!). His last day on the job was Wednesday. The Board of Selectmen this week decided to replace Woodsmall not with another town engineer, but with a staff engineer. It’s a move that is expected to save the town about $20K per year.
