Fall Town Meeting Update: Planning & Advisory supportive of IP Zoning change for EMC/Costco parcel

Most Planning Board and Advisory Committee members voiced support for the updated version of a proposed zoning bylaw that could allow building a Costco on a singled out parcel in the Industrial Park Zone. Just don't call it "spot zoning".

Monday night, an attorney for Capital Group Properties, which owns the Park Central parcel north of Route 9, argued that a proposed amendment to Industrial Park zoning is illegal “spot zoning”.

Visual Storytelling through Street Signs and Fashion — Reception Oct 18th

A new photography exhibit about empowering women's voices will open downtown this month.

Two Southborough women are working together on a “groundbreaking” photography exhibit focusing on the “tension” between fashion and a woman’s right to control her personal space. Safety instruction classes through Southborough Rec

A week from Wednesday, 9-11 yr olds can learn how to be safe when home alone. Rec is also offering courses for babysitting and CPR.

Southborough Recreation is again offering classes for tweens and teens to learn about how to safely take care of themselves or others, and a course that teens and adults can also take advantage of to learn how to respond in an emergency. Southborough’s big annual community festival and parade takes place in less than two weeks, on Monday, October 13th.

A quick alert for those thinking about exhibiting at the event, or marching in the parade, the registration deadline for both activities is this Thursday, October 2nd. In Southborough, we don’t wait until just before Halloween to start carving jack o’lanterns. The community’s big annual display, organized by the Southborough Rotary Club, takes place during the three day Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day weekend. 

For those of you who plan to take part, you might want to start thinking about how to decorate your gourds this year. Trottier Ski/Snowboard registration opens October 1st

Sign kids up quickly for the limited-space bus that will take kids to Wachusett Mountain this winter

We just officially entered fall last week, so it may seem a bit early to be thinking about skiing and snowboarding. SPD pressing charges against resident for alleged lewdness and indecent exposure on Parkerville Rd

On Saturday evening, the public safety officials responded to reports of a naked man on Parkerville Road. According to a press release issued this morning, alleged a 40 year old Southborough resident had taken narcotics and was “experiencing a mental health crisis.” The resident was taken to a hospital, but is also being charged by the SPD for “lewdness” and indecent exposure.
