Start cleaning out your closets (or basement/garage). Southborough Recreation is coordinating a “Spring Youth Sports Equipment Swap” next week.
Although it’s regular youth league season isn’t spring, and basketballs aren’t featured on the flyer, they are included in the event. (Just don’t plan to swap out equipment for snow/ice related sports!)
Rec promotes that the event is in partnership with Southborough Youth Soccer, Lacrosse, Basketball, and Baseball/Softball Associations.
The free shopping event will be held on Sunday, March 15th from 9:00 am to noon. But there’s work to be done in advance. So Rec is seeking volunteers and promoting the window for donations.
From March 9–13, the public will be able to drop off “gently used youth sports equipment” at the Rec Dept. That’s at 21 Highland St (the South Union building).
Volunteers are sought to help sort items on the 14th, and assist on the day of the event. A Facebook post from Rec encourages middle school and high school students to sign up. You can register for a shift here.
