On Tuesday night, the Chair of the Affordable Housing Trust announced their formal withdrawal of their offer on the old Atwood Water Tower Parcel.
The Select Board will be bringing forward an amended funding request to the Fall Town Meeting for the next stages of addressing contamination on the Town-owned property. In a prior post, I shared news about the Affordable Housing Trust’s offer to purchase a Town-owned 1.8 acre parcel on Atwood Street. I had noted while the agenda for tomorrow didn’t specify that topic, it might be open for discussion under the more generic agenda items. This morning, I learned of two changes. At last night’s Select Board Meeting, the board heard the broad outlines of an offer made by the Town’s Affordable Housing Trust to purchase a Town-owned parcel on Atwood Street. The Trust is seeking to enter an agreement to acquire the property after the Town has successfully cleaned up lead discovered on the site. Last month, I wrote about the Town’s efforts to pursue a small Affordable Housing project on Atwood Street. At the time the Town planned to notify abutters about a public forum this month to discuss the project.
