Conservation Committee to consider fees and fields

I just got the agenda for tomorrow night’s Conservation Committee meeting and noticed a couple of interesting items. The man behind the Buffalo Soldier exhibit

“I was there when the Army was segregated, and I was there when the Army was integrated. The second was definitely better.” Southborough resident Pete DePina spent ten years in the Army in the 1950′s. Decades later he started a collection of Buffalo Soldiers memorabilia that now fills the Southborough Historical Museum, and then some.

Preview of the school calendar for 2009-2010

It’s going to be a bit of a late start for students when school opens next fall. At last week’s Southborough School Committee meeting, Superintendent Charles Gobron presented the proposed schedule for the 2009-2010 school year. Gobron explained that because Labor Day falls late this year (September 7), students won’t start school until September 2.

Schools give money back to town

The town of Southborough can thank the schools for a $90,000 gift. The school district had money left over from capital projects, so they decided to hand it back to the town.
