Southborough Town Planner Vera Kolias was awarded the annual Regional Spirit Award by the Metrowest Growth Management Committee (MWGMC) last month.

“It’s a cool award,” Kolias said. “I feel honored that they chose me.”

MWGMC is a collaborative planning organization that focusses on regional issues shared by Metrowest communities along the Route 9 corridor from I-95 to I-495.

Kolias said Southborough benefits from regional organizations like MWGMC. “I like that it’s focussed on what we do here in this area,” she said.

The award recognizes Kolias’ spirit of collaboration and problem solving. It was presented at a banquet last month.

Selectman Sal Giorlandino attended the banquet in Kolias’ honor. “It was very nice to see Vera honored,” he said. “And the food was good, too.”

(It was a joke!) Don’t take this so seriously.
