Photos: Southborough kids explore nature at the Beals Preserve

I take a lot of walks at the Beals Preserve, on quiet trails that wind through 55 acres of woods and old pastures. But my walk there last Friday was like none other, because on that morning the usual tranquility of that parcel of nature was wonderfully disrupted by the whoops and shouts of 29 very enthusiastic school children.

Candidates for selectmen talk transparency, fiscal issues

Last night was the first of two meet-the-candidate events in the run-up to town elections on Monday, May 10. As the candidates for selectmen — incumbent Sal Giorlandino and challenger John Rooney — were being introduced, I found myself wondering if either would bring up the ongoing investigation of town employees, or if it would be the proverbial elephant in the room.

Save the date: 2nd Annual Billy Webber Memorial Golf Tournament

The Second Annual Billy Webber Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Juniper Hill Golf Course in Northborough on Monday, June 21. The tournament is in honor of Southborough’s former police chief William Webber who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in November 2008 at the age of 53.

A bit more on the ‘Southborough Eight’ investigation

The Metrowest Daily News ran a story today on Selectman Sal Giorlandino’s recent statement defending the investigation of eight Southborough town employees. It’s largely the same information you’ve read here, but reporter Evan Lips did get the chance to ask Giorlandino if the investigation was in any way related to commenter “Marty.”
