Some call it The Brontasaurus. And with good reason. The machine helping to clear woodlands at the Beals Preserve can chew a tree down to the ground in a matter of about 60 seconds, leaving only a pile of woodchips.

By now you’ve no doubt heard the forecasts, and from all accounts were in for a good bit of snow tomorrow. Southborough Emergency Management Director Neil Aspesi said a “classic nor’easter” could dump 12 to 16 inches of snow across the area.

And so the budget season begins …

With our annual town meeting a mere three months away, now is the time when town budgets take center stage. The K-8 School Committee is expected to get its first look at the school budget for fiscal year 2012 on Wednesday night (assuming their meeting isn’t delayed by snow), and tonight the Board of Selectmen will review its first set of budgets.
