It’s not too late to sign up for the Algonquin Junior T-Hawks Youth Wrestling clinic that starts tomorrow and runs through April 12. Boys and girls in grades 4 through 8 are invited to join. Here are the details.

Algonquin Junior T-Hawks Youth Wrestling is still accepting registrations for their spring clinic that runs Tuesday, March 6th thru April 12th. We are encouraging any boy or girl that might be interesting in trying a new sport to join us on Tuesday & Thursday nights at Algonquin from 6:30-8pm. Youth wrestling is still relatively new in this area and this can be an opportunity to try out a new sport. While we have a few students who have been competing at the state level in this sport, we have many students who are ‘testing the waters’, having fun with a great group of new friends and learning from a variety of coaches. Our Varsity Wrestling coaches, Brian Kramer and Derek Grant along with Algonquin’s Varsity team will also be assisting during the spring clinics.

Late last month the Massachusetts Youth Wrestling Association held their State Championships at Algonquin Regional High School. It was an amazing day for youth wrestling, hundreds of spectators and 500+ wrestlers from around the state competing for a chance to represent Massachusetts at the New England Youth Championships. From our youth program, Southborough’s Drew Cozzolino, Cam Marcoulier and Austin Roche, and Northborough’s Jake Agnew, Matt Cone, Bryce, and Mark Finnegan, and Shrewsbury’s Bryan Connery all qualified for States. Out of the eight from our youth team that qualified, three of our Junior T-Hawks will be representing our youth program on March 11 in Nashua, NH at the championship. Bryan Connery, Mark Finnegan and Austin Roche will be competing for a New England youth title. We wish them all the best of luck!!

Please feel free to visit our youth site, it is included on ARHS Wrestling site www.arhs-wrestling.com. Also, please feel free to contact any member of the team and/or boosters with your questions.

We have one son that has participated in this great youth clinic since last winter and another son who is a sophomore at ARHS and has been on the Varsity Wrestling team since last year. The one on varsity wishes he got involved while he was in middle school…just so he would have more experience! Neither Drew or Joe had tried wrestling before…and now it has become THE sport! Wrestling has been great both physically and mentally for the two of them. Being able to participate as an individual but be part of a supportive team is a unique experience. Not everyone will get ‘hooked’ like our guys but it’s a chance for kids (boys and girls) as young as 4th grade (for the spring clinic) up to 8th grade to try something new in a short amount of time.

The varsity coaches, Brian Kramer and Derek Grant are looking forward to teaching the ‘basics’ to our local youth. The varsity wrestlers will be assisting as well….it’s a high energy work out with an emphasis on fun! Feel free to stop by ARHS to check it out! Any further questions….please contact me at anytime!
