Troop drive organizers thank community for support

Southborough resident Lisa Braccio said when she held her first care package drive in 2005 to benefit troops overseas, she never dreamed she would still be at it 16 drives later. But she is, and she and co-organizer Debbie Depp Wilson sent along these words of thanks to those who contributed to their latest drive held this past weekend at the Senior Center.

With conditions in Afghanistan worse than ever, your support was never needed more. You met the challenge! This is our 16th time organizing the Care Package Drive, since Lisa Braccio started it in 2005. At this Care Package Drive we worked together to ship 654 boxes and over 15,000 pounds. Overall we have shipped more than 179,000 pounds and 8,200 boxes, touching tens of thousands of lives.

You get it and we are so very grateful. Our heartfelt thanks to all of you, who extended yourselves to others and made a real difference!

Proud Army Mom of CPT Courtney Wilson!
