On October 6, Southborough resident Lynn McKay will lead her “Brunch Bunch” team in a 5 mile walk for the American Cancer Society. It will be her 16th year raising funds for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

She began in 1998, one month after finishing her treatment to fight breast cancer. At the time, her son attended Wee Care for Little People (a Southborough based daycare). A group of their teachers, along with McKay’s good friends, supported her by joining the walk.

Since then, her group has evolved to become what they call the Brunch Bunch.

Every year, McKay and friends (including other Southborough residents) raise funds for the cause.

I am walking because I hope that someday nobody will have to hear the words “You have breast cancer.” I am walking so there will continue to be new treatments for people who have heard those words. Visit our team page to see the names of the many people we walk in support of, in celebration of, and in memory of.

For the past several years, McKay has achieved Pacesetter status for raising $2,500 or more. This year, she has set a goal of raising $3,500.

If you would like to offer your support, you can either make a pledge or join her team. For details, visit her fundraising page.
