Conversations Before the Crisis – April 3

On Thursday, April 3 at 7:00 pm, the Senior Center will host an event that isn’t likely to be fun, but is important.

In a presentation co-sponsored by the Board of Health, speakers will talk about Conversations Before the Crisis.

The BOH seeks to remind us the importance of talking through options and preferences with family before crisis hits.

All seniors and their families are encouraged to attend this informative talk about the importance of being proactive in planning and communicating one’s advance care plans. Knowing and honoring a loved one’s preferences and values are essential elements towards providing compassionate patient and family-centered care later in life.

Speaker Susan Zorb, Nurse Practitioner, will join Joyce Gallagher, Director of Nursing of Good Shepherd Community Care in Newton in presenting this interesting topic. Joyce in addition, is a Reikki Master, and Susan is certified in Hospice and palliative care.

Among the topics to be covered:

  • Health Care Proxy
  • Advance Directive
  • Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (MOLST) forms

This program is free for all area residents. Please call the Board of Health at (508) 481-3013 to pre-register.
