Events this week: Choral concerts, Christmas decor, holiday parties, and art workshop

Southborough seniors have some fun holiday options to enjoy this week with a Christmas decor workshop, sing-a-long brunch, and lunch followed by a Christmas movie. If you want to participate in any of those, be sure to pre-register.

There’s also plenty to do for us non-seniors. Here are highlights of what’s happening around town this week.

    Arranging a tabletop tree (1:00 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Tina Bemis will show seniors how to create and decorate a Boxwood Tree – a tabletop tree formed out of fresh boxwood sprigs. For more details, click on flyer right.

  • Legislative aid Local Office Hours (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Southborough Libary: Representative Dykema had planned to hold office hours in town during this time. Unfortunately, she needs to reschedule. For residents that can’t wait, her legislative aid David Melly will be available to talk. Stop by to share concerns, questions and opinions on state issues.

  • Holiday Sing-a-Long Brunch (11:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The holiday celebration for Southborough Seniors features a sing-a-long with the center’s Southborough Songsters. Brunch will catered by TJ’s Restaurant. Suggested Donation of $6 per Friend of COA, $10 per non-member Please bring an unwrapped gift for the Toys-for -Tots Program.

    Holiday lunch and Matinee for seniors (11:30 am – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Free matinee of White Christmas. Before the show, the center will serve lunch (suggested donation of $3). Seniors are also welcome to bring their own lunch. At noon, the Bing Crosby holiday classic will be screened.   • eBook Help Session (1:00 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Confounded by your Kindle? Wondering how you can read library books on your iPad? We can help! Library staff will be conducting eBook help sessions to the best of their ability. Each session is an hour long. Registration is not required. Bring in your device and we’ll do our best to help you check out books electronically!

  • Saturday Art Workshops for Children (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Children ages 5-10 are invited to be a part of monthly Saturday Art Workshops. Drop in to create some art! Registration is not required.
  • Steeple Coffeehouse presents Dave Pietro and his Trio (7:30 pm) @ Pilgrim Church: The Steeple Coffeehouse opens its 20th season with the jazz quartet playing holiday season favorites. For more details, see dedicated post.

  • Northboro Area Community Chorus’ Christmas Concert (3:15 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School: NACC’s 44th Annual concert. Santa will pay a visit & tickets are only $5.00. The chorus membership represents 21 local towns including Southborough. The NACC is supported in part by grants from the Northboro, Westboro, Shrewsbury & Southboro Cultural Councils.
