Town Election update: Board of Selectmen race growing; deadline to file Tuesday (Updated)

If you are considering running for office in Southborough, act quick. The deadline to file papers is Tuesday. And the potential for at least one contest is growing.

A fifth potential candidate has pulled papers for the Board of Selectmen.

[Editor’s Note: Make that six! I just learned that one more candidate pulled papers after the Town Clerk sent out an update yesterday afternoon.]

So far, only one candidate has filed signed papers to run (Jesse Stein). Meanwhile, one incumbent has yet to pull papers (Paul Cimino). So we could be looking at anywhere from 1-7 candidates for the 2 seats.

If you are interested in running for any of the 14 seats in the May election, you need to pull your papers and return them with 43 signatures by March 21st at 7:00 pm.

The Town’ Clerk’s office is only open until noon today, so I suggest booking it down there. (Tomorrow should be a decent day to get signatures at the Transfer Station and around town.)

The office is also open on Monday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. And it opens Tuesday at 8:00 am.

Once again, we won’t know until April 7th whose names will actually be on the ballot.* But here’s how things are shaping up.

Unless otherwise noted below:

  • Candidates have yet to file signed papers
  • I don’t know the plans of incumbents who haven’t pulled papers
