Events this week: Trottier Theater, Candidates Night, NECC 5K and art workshop (Updated)

  • Young Scientists (11:30 am – 12:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Free STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program for kids age 3-5. Kids will learn concepts through hands-on activities, story time, challenges, and simple experiments. Must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver (Siblings are welcome.) Registration is required. Call 508-485-5031. This is a special enrichment program facilitated by STEM Beginnings through the YMCA & Community Partnership Program to be held weekly, April 25 – June 6th.
  • 1st to 2nd grade parent orientation at Woodward (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Woodward School: Introducing the school to parents who will have children starting there in the fall. Presentation, Q&A, and a tour.
  • Parenting talk: Raising Healthy Children in Challenging Times (7:00 pm) @ Fay’s Root Meeting Room: Fay School is hosting a presentation by Dr. Rob Evans, “Raising Healthy Children in Challenging Times.” For details, see the dedicated post from earlier today.

  • NSPAC Coffee and Connect (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Northborough Library: Northborough/Southborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council’s monthly gathering. Attendees will have the opportunity to informally connect with other parents and guardians and to share and discuss specific topics of concern.

  • Candidates Night (6:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Annual public event hosted by the Library Trustees All candidates for contested town government offices are invited to make statements and participate in public Q&A. This year, the contests are between candidates for Town Clerk and the Board of Selectmen 6:00-6:30, meet and greet 6:30 – 9:00, Q&A
  • Neary Incoming 4th Grade Parent Orientation (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Neary School: Introducing the school to parents who will have children starting there in the fall. Presentation, Q&A, and a tour. (Students are allowed this year, but there will be a future step-up day specifally designed for them.)

  • Trottier’s DC Trip Parent Orientation (6:30 – 6:30 pm) @ Trottier Middle School auditorium: Students & parents welcome for the orientation meeting next fall’s annual 8th grade trip to Washington DC.
  • Art Gallery Reception (7:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Southborough Community House: Free admission, refreshments will be served, inspiring local artwork & every dime from the silent auction-style sale goes directly to The New England Center for Children. Art on display will also include some from NECC students.
  • Trottier Theater Program Performance (7:00 pm) @ Trottier Middle School auditorium: Trottier Middle School Drama presenting Night at the Wax Museum. Tickets cost $8pp

  • NECC 5K Walk/Run (8:30 am – 2:00 pm): New England Center for Children’s 10th Annual Walk/Run for Autism Event activities are based at Neary School with the course looping around the Parkerville and Deerfoot Road area. Handicapped parking is available at Neary. Participants who don’t need the handicapped parking are encouraged to carpool and park at one of three other lots. On site registration begins at 8:30 am. The race begins at 10:00 am. For details, click here.
  • 2-part Workshop for Children: Woodpecker Door Knockers (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: A special 2 part art workshop for children ages 5-9. Children must pre-register for both parts (May 6th and May 13th). To register, contact the Children’s Room at 508-485-5031 Sponsored by the Community Fund, a fund of the Foundation for Metrowest.
  • Trottier Theater Program Performance (3:00 pm) @ Trottier Middle School auditorium: Trottier Middle School Drama presenting Night at the Wax Museum. Tickets cost $8pp

I tried to sign up online for the necc 5k today but it said registration closed. So there will still be the option to get into the event the morning of based on this post?

I appreciate it is a difficult subject to discuss, yet it has significant potential impact to the finances of our community.
