Special Election update: Stivers, Jasinski, and Parry eye Board of Selectmen

It’s looking likely that Special Election voters will get to make a choice this fall. As of this morning, one resident has filed his candidacy for the Board of Selectmen, and two others have pulled papers to join the race.

Sam Stivers, a current member of the Advisory Committee has filed the necessary signatures to run.* David Parry (a former selectman) and Doriann Jasinski (another Advisory member) have also pulled papers. To get on the ballot, they’ll need to file by September 19th.

Stivers and Parry both ran in the annual election this past May. (Stivers received 21% of the votes for the two available seats and Parry 8%. The seats were secured by incumbent Dan Kolenda and Lisa Braccio, who had been serving on the Open Space Preservation Commission.)

Jasinski last ran for office in the 2015 Town election as a candidate for Town Clerk.

If you are interested in throwing your hat in the ring, you have until September 15th to pull the forms.

The election to fill the vacant seat on the five person board is scheduled for November 7th.
