Events this week: District speaker, Trottier half day matinee, senior hike, virtual garden tour, kids’ musical and more

  • District Keynote: Science and Music Education (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ Trottier Middle School auditorium: The public schools of Northborough and Southborough speaker series: How Science Informs the Importance of Music Education by Dr. Kathleen Howland. For details, see dedicated post.

Wednesday, February 7, 2018

  • ArtQuest (Senior program) (8:45 am – 11:20 am) @ Neary School: An intergenerational volunteer program at the 4th & 5th grade elementary school. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Jim and Linda’s Musical Cabaret (12:00 pm) @ Senior Center: Luncheon and entertainment for seniors. Noon Lunch (a variety of finger foods, dessert & drink) followed by music and dancing at 12:30 pm. Suggested Donation of $6. Sign up at the front desk or call (508) 229-4453. 
  • Legos at the Library (3:45 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Public Library: Children are welcome to come build with Legos, and display their creations in the Children’s Room. Legos will be provided, but all materials need to remain at the library. Parents or caregivers must stay with children during this event.

Thursday, February 8, 2018

  • Trottier Early Dismissal (11:20 am) @ Trottier Middle School: Early dismissal to allow for parent-teacher conferences
  • SEF Movie & Pizza party (11:30 am – 2:30 pm) @ Trottier Middle School: Trottier students can take join a pizza party with screening of The Empire Strikes Back. The lunch and movie are a fundraiser for the Southborough Education Foundation. Students can participate for $20 donation to SEF. Following the event, students can take the regular 2:30 buses home. (The deadline has been extended to Wednesday for registration.) For details, see dedicated post.
  • Winter Hike (Senior program) (1:00 pm) @ Meet at Senior Center: A program run by the Southborough Senior Center’s Trailblazers. Hike on Bay Circuit Trail, the next South section. All are welcome but pre-registration is requested. To register, call 508-229-4453. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Gorgeous Gardens (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Local resident, photographer, and landscape architect Joanne Pearson will take attendees on a visual tour of some of the most gorgeous gardens in New England. For details, see dedicated post.
