Post-season: Girls Hockey falls to Wellesley at State Semis

The Algonquin/Hudson Co-op Girls Hockey team challenged top seed Wellesley in the State Semi Finals on Monday. According to Southborough Wicked Local, the Girls couldn’t overtake the bigger team:

The Wellesley girls hockey team is fortunate to have a luxury that many other girls hockey teams in Massachusetts don’t.

With their ability to roll three quality lines, the high-flying Raiders are able to use their depth to not only generate more offense, but also to wear teams down as games progress, something they frequently did during the regular season and have done now in the postseason. And in Monday evening’s Division 2 state semifinal matchup with 13th-seeded Algonquin, top-seeded Wellesley’s depth once again played a factor.

The Raiders controlled the action throughout against a Tomahawk team that only rolls two lines, and they were able to tire Algonquin out on Wellesley’s way to a dominant 5-0 victory at Warrior Ice Arena. (read more)

It was the final Gonk team in post-season playoffs. So, that puts an end to ARHS winter sports.

The Spring sports season will kickoff the first week of April. (The ARHS Spring Sports Parent/Player meeting is scheduled for 6:00 pm tonight in the cafeteria.)
