Traditionally on Memorial Day, flags in Southborough and across the nation are lowered to half staff from noon until sunset. This year, Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that this Monday, May 27th, 2019 flags also be lowered from sunrise until noon.
The additional hours are in honor of an active duty member of the Navy from Massachusetts who was murdered earlier this month. Hospital Corpsman Meaghan Burns, US Navy, of South Deerfield, MA died on May 4, 2019 in Portsmouth, Virginia.
