The Southborough Police Department is offering a free self defense class for women (and young ladies) in June. The “R.A.D. Systems” is designed to teach “Rape Agression Defense”.

The 4-part class will take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights starting the week after next.

The SPD’s Facebook page shared the opportunity for female residents aged 13+:

We are happy to announce that there will be R.A.D. Women’s classes, starting up in the beginning of June! The class dates will be June 11, 13, 18, and 20; and will be held at 21 Highland Street (Southborough Recreation Department). Open to all residents, 13yrs and up. The classes will run from 6pm-9pm; with a total of 4 classes equaling 12 hours. The attire should be active wear and sneakers (and please bring water)!

The R.A.D. Systems Instructional Objective: “To develop and enhance the options of Self-Defense, so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked.”

Anyone interested in taking the class can leave a voicemail for Officer Kevin Landry at 508-485-2121.
