Another Main Street Update

I’m overdue in sharing another update on the Main Street Reconstruction project.

As anyone who has been driving on Main Street knows, the work on sides of the roads continues. One week ago, the Town posted an update that disruptions would be getting worse:

Water main replacement work continues – work has been slowed due to ledge.

New utility poles are almost all installed. Electric will move their wires, then the communication wires will follow.

Stone wall work continues.

Drainage work has begun – this work will cross the street in many locations and will disrupt traffic more than any previous work from the project.

Borings were drilled for the new traffic light bases. Work to install the bases will happen this week.

Ledge isn’t the only thing that has slowed down waterworks.

According to an email from resident Chris Robbins, workers hit another snag on Friday morning. While working on line repair/replacement, a leak was sprung, causing a temporary “geyser” at the corner of Route 30 and Parkerville Road.

Apparently, the line was soon fixed and work continues.
