Next Level Parenting: free workshop series for parents of teens

Yesterday, I shared news of Southborough Youth and Family Services’ workshop series for adolescents and teens. There is a third upcoming workshop series also launching in January. This one focuses on helping parents of teens.

SYFS Next Level Parenting workshop seriesSYFS is bringing in a licensed social worker to run Next Level Parenting workshops:

Teen emotions are big. It makes the job of parenting even bigger. How do we support our teens? How do we know we’re saying the right thing…or that we should be saying anything at all? Join Kerrie Toole, Director of Castlebrook Counseling of Westborough, in gaining tools and getting support. This free six-week workshop will be based on DBT skills* and cover topics like youth brain development and how it affects emotions, how to use validation strategies, learning why flexibility is so important in parenting and ways to support teens through difficult times.

You can learn more about Toole’s expertise here.

The workshops are funded by a generous grant from The Southborough Community Fund.

The series will run on Thursday evenings, 7:00 – 8:30 pm, January 9 – February 13, 2020. Sessions will be held in the South Union Building at 21 Highland Street.

The registration deadline is December 27th. Registration is limited to 25 Southborough residents. (Click here to register.)

If you have questions, or need help registering, please call SYFS Program Coordinator Shannon Kinayman at 508-481-5676 ext. 3.
