Algonquin cancels August SAT test; seeking to reschedule for late September

Students who have been preparing to take the SATs at Algonquin on the 29th will have to wait at least another month.

A reader alerted me that the SAT test scheduled for August 29th at Algonquin Regional was cancelled. She asked if I had any insight. I didn’t but followed up.

The College Board website was still listing the test as of earlier this afternoon. But Principal Sean Bevan confirmed for me that it was cancelled. He said they are trying to reschedule it for the end of September.

As for why they aren’t holding it this month, he explained:

Having 150 students (and ~15 proctors) in the building at this time would be difficult as classrooms are not ready for students, the participants and staff have not been trained on our safety protocols and procedures (which continue to change), and some test-takers would be coming to us from towns other than our own, which presents a challenge for contact tracing. We were hopeful to make it work, but we think that delaying it for a brief period of time allows us to prepare more fully and administer the exam as safely as possible.
