Obituary: Sauli A. Murtoniemi, 69

Sauli Antero Murtoniemi, of Southborough, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 15, 2021. He was born on Feb. 17, 1951 in Kuusamo, Finland, the fourth child of Lempi and Aleksi Murtoniemi.

He is survived by his wife, Laura (Kulju) Murtoniemi; sons and daughters-in-law, Sami and Jaana Murtoniemi of Espoo, Finland, and Niko and Mirva Murtoniemi of Hattula Finland; sister, Anja Murtoniemi of Sweden; and his beloved grandchildren, Aleksi, Miro,and Nea.

Sauli was a top auto-parts salesman in Finland, later training to become a massage therapist. After immigrating to the United States in 1994, he worked as a massage therapist in Waltham, Framingham, and Southborough.

Sauli was an avid outdoorsman who earned the nickname “Crocodile Sauli.” He and his wife Laura greatly enjoyed canoeing and camping in New Hampshire and Maine.

Services will be private.
