Southborough residents take part in third annual Marlborough Triathlon

More than 400 athletes took part in yesterday’s third annual Marlborough Triathlon, among them five from Southborough. The race involved a 1/3-mile swim in the Fort Meadow Reservoir, a 15-mile bike ride, and a 3.3-mile run ending at Marlborough High School.

The top finisher from Southborough was resident and professional triathlete Dustin Weigl, 20, who placed tenth overall and third in his division, with a time of 1:10:54.

Southborough resident John Wentzell came in third in the men’s 50-54 age group with a time of 1:27:12, and Carole Laperriere won the women’s 50-54 age group with a time of 1:31:55. Wentzell finished 78th overall, and Laperriere finished in 114th place.
