Annual Chestnut Hill Farm work day on Saturday

Just over a year ago, land conservation organization The Trustees of Reservations took over ownership of Chestnut Hill Farm from the Beals family. According to a press release issued at the time, The Trustees have some long-term plans for the property – community supported agriculture, anyone? – but in the meantime their focus is maintaining the property and its trails.

To that end, they’re holding a work day on Saturday to do maintenance and make some improvements. All are invited to stop by and help out. Here are the details.

Chestnut Hill Farm Annual Work Day
July 16,  9am – 3 pm

The Trustees of Reservations need your help! Feel free to come out for the whole day or just a morning or afternoon. Individuals young and old, big and small can equally contribute. Students and scouts can receive community service hours. Our tasks will vary based on specific property needs from clearing unwanted weeds that threaten the native species, to performing light trail maintenance or building water bars. Collectively we will learn a bit about the property we are helping and meet other dedicated volunteers. Refreshments will be provided. Plan to bring your own lunch if you’d like to spend the day. Wear long sleeves and pants, and bring water and gloves if you have them.
