Missing finger points the way to fugitive in Southborough

Here’s a bizarre one from the Southborough police files. Reports the Metrowest Daily News:

Police arrested a fugitive from Ohio on Tuesday night after discovering he was trying to trick them into thinking he was his brother. That ruse failed, police said, because his brother is also wanted by police.

Paul M. Stevenson, 36, is listed as an escapee from Summit County, Ohio, and is likely headed back there to face that and a list of other charges.

Fugitive Paul told Southborough police he was his brother Nicholas, and he was booked under that name, but it didn’t take police long to figure out things weren’t as they seemed. A conversation with authorities in Ohio revealed Paul has a pretty unique identifying characteristic his brother does not: a missing finger on one hand.

It was the smoking finger, er gun, the police needed to reveal the truth. Read all the wacky details in this article by the MWDN.
